Autumn

Scultura ceramica a forma di C con foglie dorate, ispirata al vento e al movimento autunnale

Autumn

“Autumn” is made from a white semi-refractory clay body, hand-modeled and then coated with high-temperature glazes that, during firing, generate unpredictable and natural effects.

The work interprets the invisible yet powerful force of wind: a breath that moves through nature, stirring leaves on an autumn day.

The central structure, tall and curved, evokes the movement of wind through a C-shaped form. The exterior is glazed in white—a white that represents air: transparent, luminous, ever-changing.

Inside, two different glazes interact during firing: they mix, burst, and merge, creating a spontaneous and dynamic effect that evokes the energy of wind in motion.

The leaves are small clay sheets, as thin as handkerchiefs, scattered across the composition and covered with a glaze ranging between gold, yellow, and brown, recalling the colors of autumn. They appear to fly, play, and let themselves be carried by the current.

The square base supports the entire composition and represents the ground: thin clay strands imitate grass bending under the passage of wind. Here too, the green glaze reacts in the kiln, creating spontaneous chromatic variations, small burns, and visual vibrations.

“Autumn” is a narrative of movement and lightness: wind as a force that passes through everything, visible only in the traces it leaves behind.

— Curatorial note

Interpretation of wind as an invisible force: the C-shape represents flow, the golden leaves evoke autumnal movement, and the reactive firing colors express natural transformation.
The work explores the dialogue between matter and change.
